Our mission:

Provide assistance to physicians, residents, medical students and their immediate family who are going through difficult times because of substance abuse or addiction, alcoholism, mental health or other personal problems.
Prevent the development of such problems among physicians, residents and medical students.
Assist in and simplify the early identification of physicians, residents and medical students struggling with such a problem and provide appropriate care.
Support physicians, residents and medical students in their recovery and integration or reintegration into a professional environment.

Organizational Structure:

The QPHP is headed by a Board of Trustees. The Board’s role is to define the organization’s direction and policies and to oversee its growth, budget and sound management.

The FMOQ, FMSQ, FMRQ, CMQ and AMLFC each appoint a physician to the Board.

The QPHP successfully pursues its operations because of the work of a dedicated and discreet team of doctors and secretaries.

Financing:
Established by physicians in 1990 to meet the needs of the physicians, the Quebec Physicians’ Health Program (QPHP) has been funded from its inception by the three Federations of Physicians (general practitioners – FMOQ; medical specialists – FMSQ; and resident physicians – FMRQ), the Collège des médecins du Québec and the Association des médecins de langue française du Canada. Physicians play a crucial role in QPHP fundraising, mainly through the fees that they pay to their medical organizations.

The Fondation médecins du Québec also lent its financial support to the QPHP from 1999 to 2004, under the supervision of the Collège des médecins. In the fall of 2004, the Collège transferred the Fondation’s fundraising structure to the QPHP. Under its new name, the Fondation du Programme d’aide aux médecins du Québec, it has maintained its mandate: ensuring that the QPHP is able to fulfill its mission of assistance, prevention and research.

When you make a donation to the Fondation du Programme d’aide aux médecins du Québec, you contribute to :

helping your colleagues, or even yourself, to go through difficult times;

expanding the QPHP’s efforts in the area of prevention;

allowing research projects to be launched;

identifying the causes of the stress that physicians struggle with and finding solutions.
