Montréal, November 3, 2021 – The Québec Physicians’ Health Program Foundation is launching its fundraising campaign: While you care for Québec, who takes care of you?
As all healthcare professionals, physicians have been thrown off balance by COVID-19 over the last 20 months. Levels of stress, anxiety and exhaustion may have peaked along with the pandemic, but even now the context of medical practice remains difficult and demanding. Challenges such as pandemic fatigue, personnel shortages, excessive workloads and loss of meaning are piling up and taking a toll on family life, workplace relationships, motivation and overall physician health.
At the QPHP, this impact has led to a 28% increase in requests for assistance in the last year, between June 2020 and May 2021, an upward trend that continues. It is against this background that the QPHP Foundation is launching its 2021 fundraising campaign.
The QPHP is there to take care of physicians
As calls to support caregivers climb all over the country, Québec physicians can count on their health program, the QPHP. The Program provides personalized assistance grounded in physicians’ experiences, so that they can regain their health, keep their balance and function optimally as professionals in a sustainable manner — all thanks, in large part, to donations from the community.

About the QPHP Foundation
The Québec Physicians’ Health Program Foundation has supported the QPHP’s services and activities through funding and fundraising campaigns since 2004. Donations to the QPHP Foundation are an essential part of the organization’s funding. In addition to the grants and contributions received from partners, donations allow the QPHP to offer services that meet the needs of medical professionals. All funds raised by the Foundation are exclusively allocated to the QPHP.
About the QPHP
Created in 1990, the Québec Physicians’ Health Program (QPHP) is an independent non-profit organization. Its mission is to provide strictly confidential assistance to all physicians, residents and medical students who are facing a situation that affects their psychological and overall health. The service is provided by physician advisors who understand the challenges of medical practice and are committed to supporting their struggling colleagues in finding solutions that will help them regain their health and return to a healthy practice. In addition to providing counselling and support services, the QPHP designs and implements psychological health prevention programs and contributes to research. It provides free counselling and support services 365 days a year.
